The Resorts and Towns of Lanzarote

Lanzarote is full of popular towns and resorts, and if you are looking to visit the island for the first time you will want to know a bit more about these areas.  Take a look at some of them, and you will be able to choose the places that you want to visit the most.

Arrecife:

Arrecife is the biggest town in Lanzarote, and it is also the capital of the island.  It has ports, shopping facilities, cafes, and is considered to be the central administrative and commercial area on the island.  In this area, you will want to visit the El Charco de San Gines, which is a salt water lagoon that is surrounded by fisherman homes.

Playa Blanca:

Playa Blanca use to just be a small village that fisherman frequented often.  It is now one of the most popular resorts in Lanzarote.  It has a lot of large hotels that offer luxury amenities, and it also has a lot of bungalow developments and yachts.  They have a lot of great places to go for shopping and dining as well, and the beaches tend to be a popular attraction.

Los Pocillos and Matagorda:

Los Pocillos and Matagorda are sister resorts, and they are located right close to the Puerto Del Carmen.  It is a peaceful resort that many people like to visit when they want to go somewhere quiet and tranquil.  The two are connected by a promenade.  There are commercial centres, restaurants, bars and shopping centres for you to visit while you are there.

Puerto Del Carmen:

Puerto Del Carmen is on the east coast of Lanzarote.  It is probably one of the busiest resorts, which means that it may not be ideal for people that want peace and quiet.  There are a lot of great night life activities, making this a popular choice for the younger crowds.  You can go out to local bars and dance clubs, or even listen to great music at one of the live music venues.

Puerto Calero:

Puerto Calero is a Marina that is located to the South of Puerto Del Carmen.  It is great for people that enjoy going yachting.  You can take part in marine activities and excursions, and you can also eat at some great local restaurants.  It has grown in exclusivity, and it is really popular- especially during the holiday season.  It doesn’t have any beaches though, which is a drawback for some people.

Costa Teguise:

Costa Teguise is another popular Lanzarote resort.  It is peaceful and tranquil, and has been developing more and more over the past decade.  There are a few four and five star hotels in the area that you can choose from as well.  You can go to the white sandy beaches and relax out in the sun, or you can go golfing, or to the water park or the aquarium while you are there.  There are a lot of great things for everyone in this resort.
